Oh, Cluj never looked better than in the days of Cluj Fashion Week (14-17 th april)... Not that I've seen Cluj before the event, but it just sounds good to begin my text like that. It sounds like I'm saying it with a Cuba libre in my hand, remembering the good old times. Anyways back to CFW-it was a mix of art, fashion , cool people and calm people that made me feel at home. Mango - How artTASTEic!

A week ago Mango launched it’s spring-summer collection at MNAC (The National Museum of Contemporary Art), in Bucharest. Naturally I had to see what the brand Mango has got to do with art. Apparently nothing. The representatives said that they found the location suited for the show, from a space and light point of view, not necesarily because they wanted an association with art. Nevertheless at the same event, whether intended or not, an artistic association did occure. Some food “artists”mixed together cream, fruit and pastry, with their bare hands, into a spontanous pile of ...sweet stuff that looked grose but sort of like a work of food art. At the end the public was invited to have a taste. Surprisingly enough everybody ligned up to get a portion of the deranged looking work of cake. Cool thing to see at such a fancy event, though personally I was hoping for a messy food fight. Oh well...

Another thing is that all that food play reminded me of Jennifer Rubell, food artist and the niece of Steve Rubell (owner of infamous Studio 54), who at the end of 2009, to celebrate the opening of Art Basel Miami, put together a doughnut art installation called Old fashioned. In detail- she hang over 1500 doughtnuts on a wall and invited everyone to have a bite and take their own conclusions from the art piece. Fresh doughnuts were delivered every day, for the wall, by Donkin Doughnuts. Bon artpetit!
